I have a quilt top!

Look! A quilt top! I love how quickly this sews up. Don't look too closely though, many of the corners don't match. (Oops!) Oh well, I think it looks cheerful and happy and a 2 month old kid won't notice anyways.

Today I want to get it quilted. I'm thinking stitching lines running 1/4 inch away from each seam, horizontally and vertically.

CoCo "left behind" mission

Loooong Overdue

While completing jenthompson's CoCo "left behind" mission, I realized I still hadn't blogged about this costume. And I made it almost TWO YEARS ago! It is definitely my favourite Halloween costume I have ever made. I put a fair bit of work into the construction and I think it turned out really well. It's a Disney Snow White costume. The only major changes I made were to shorten the skirt and add pockets.

I wore this costume with a bunch of other friends all in Disney themed costumes (including Belle, Cinderella, Esmeralda, Pocahontas, Little Mermaid/Ariel, Mulan, Robin Hood, Aladdin, Carpet, Hercules). It was awesome. Some of us went to the local ComicCon a couple days later and we got lots of compliments. The little girls liked the princesses (me and another friend dressed as the Little Mermaid), but the biggest hit was my boyfriend who dressed up as the fox version of Robin Hood. I made his costume too, which involved orange suede pants that had a tail attached.

Quilting complete

I realized that I am way too lazy to do all the quilting I was originally thinking of. It is just too difficult trying to manoeuvre the fluffy quilt under and around the machine, especially because it's against a wall. So all I did was horizontal lines, 1/4 inch on either side of the seam and I'm calling it a day. Only the binding left!
