Went out to a friend's cabin this weekend, thus no sewing. Caught up on sleep today, thus also no sewing. Planning on sewing tomorrow. Hopefully, all goes well. Last week, however, I did alter my friend's dress and sewed together a mockup of the 1879 corset minus temporary boning. I want to try using skinny cable ties to bone it instead of going through all the trouble and cost of real steel boning. Hope it works.

Cabin was fun even though I averaged about 15 hours of sleep in 3 days. (Split up into 2, 10, and 3 hours.) There was a Bear Mace incident in which one of my drunken friends wanted to wake everyone up with an airhorn and accidentally sprayed Bear Mace everywhere instead. Apparently it burns. People were coughing like crazy and having burning skin if they got in anywhere on them either from the air or touching stuff that had it on it. (One of my friends managed to get it on a very awkward place the next day.) If this ever happens to anyone according to Poison Control vegetable oil or antacids such as Maalox that contain AlOH or MgOH are supposed to relieve it. However we did not have any of these things and began experimenting with stuff. Margarine, even though it may contain 8% vegetable oil does not help. (Although watching someone with a butter knife spreading margarine on someone else is quite entertaining.) Neither does showering (although a cold lake is helpful whilst in the lake), butter, ketchup, aloe vera, or BBQ sauce. What does help is oatmeal. That was my suggestion and it worked. :) So you take some oatmeal and throw in some water, let it soak a bit, then apply it to burning areas. Hopefully you never have to go through this.
