Art Advice

1. Apparently using a garbage can in your art can be hazardous. If you choose to use one, do not, I repeat DO NOT, leave it lying around because then people like to put garbage in it. That's what happened with my social commentary piece. My brother accidentally threw something out in it even though it was in a spot where there is not usually a garbage. Luckily it was only a plastic bag he threw out.

2. Glue sticks and white glue do not work on garbage bags. I was trying to glue some pictures and stuff I had typed out to the garbage bag inside of my garbage can and the glue stick didn't hold and with the white glue, once it dried it no longer stuck to the plastic. I think the rubber cement should do it though. A word of advice on that one is to try to keep from getting high off the fumes.

3. Taking non-art people or people who don't really like a certain style or people with headaches to an art exhibit that they don't really overly care too much about is not the best fun. My dad took me to a Post-Impressionist art exhibit and kept saying things like, "This one isn't too bad," as he stands in front of a Cezanne. *sigh*

Apparently it is impossible for me to find shoes that I like for grad. All I want is a pair of plain, white, satin, closed-toe shoes preferably with a heel and a strap or two. They don't seem to exist. Well actually they do, it's just that the only pair I found only went up to a size 3. Like it's my fault that my tastes run to little kids' shoes. Also fabric stores here don't seem to carry dark red. Well they do, but only in twill and I don't really fancy having a grad dress done in twill. My mom and I only went to one store though. See the thing was I thought a bunch of my friends were getting their dresses in red and I have a problem with being exactly the same as everyone else, so, ended up buying this really, really dark bluey-violet. It's really nice but red is really my colour. And now only one of my friends is going to have a red dress. My mom was really nice about it and said we can go look and she'll buy me new fabric. The other fabric will be used for something or other. But I've only seen this shade of red a few times. It's like a garnet claret kind of colour. Oh well.
