I've been a little absent lately. But I decided I needed to remedy that. My sewing has slowed down to a snail's pace. But here are some pictures of past sewing.

The emerald shirt; my most recent finished project. Ok, it looks way more aqua in this picture than in real life. It's actually more of an emerald/teal sort of shade.

Another picture post on its way...

Another one to be checked off the list is the emerald shirt. After spending too much time trying to turn something inside out that couldn't be turned inside out, cutting off seam allowances because the darn seams were to difficult to seam rip, snagging it on the needle in the machine, doing a sub-par job of binding the neckline, and repairing a tiny hole I cut in the top when cutting off the binding end, the emerald shirt was completed! It was a bit of a struggle at times, obviously, but it turned out fairly well. It looks a lot like my shirt that I copied it from. (I should take pics of both to compare.) There are some definite flaws, but it was also my first time sewing a knit and trying to copy a pattern from an already put together garment. It was kind of tough because the shirt has a fitted lining and the a very loose outer layer. But now I know the adjustments I'll have to make to my pattern and I will easily be able to make a bunch in different colours. I'm so glad I got it finished because that means I can wear it out tonight with my friends! We're going out for karaoke for a friend's birthday. Good times! :) Pictures in the near future.

Holiday!

I'm on Reading Week right now. It's the same thing as Spring Break, it just has a silly name. And it's not actually during the springtime... But, it's a week long break, so who cares? Because one of my two classes today was cancelled, I just skipped the other one and started my break early. It was a good day. :) Even though I'm very sniffly, I don't feel too awful. I just have to blow my nose about every five minutes. It didn't prevent me from getting to a much needed sewing project though. With all my jeans suddenly getting holes, I had to do something. I had found a pair of jeans that I hadn't really worn but hung on to anyways just in case. I didn't wear them because I didn't really like the style since the bottoms were very flared. So yesterday I ripped out the seams up to the knees and I re-sewed them today. Now I have a pair of wearable, non-holey jeans to go with my one other pair! :) I'd buy more jeans, but I really don't want to spend the money on it. Not when the money could be going towards things like fabric and corset supplies and such.

It was my birthday last weekend and I got some birthday money to spend, so I splurged on some new shoes. They're black canvas flats with little laces. See them here. I've been wanting flats for such a long time but have never been able to find ones that are comfortable and supportive enough. Because these ones are cut higher at the tops, I find they fit so much better. :)

During this coming week, I want to take a pattern from an existing knit top I have (one of my favourites) and make a repro out of my emerald rayon knit. Rayon knits are sooo nice. I love how smooth and drape-y the shirts I have are that are made out of it.

I've hit a snag with my jeans. I went to go cut them out today and realized that I don't have enough fabric. It really sucks because it was my next project in line. Now I have to shuffle things around so that I don't lose (even more) productivity. This means that next up is the emerald green shirt. February looks like it will be wearable, modern clothes sewing month. Which is a good thing, right?
