Taking a break from the multitude of homework that I pretended didn't exist while I was in Toronto, and uploading all my pictures. These first ones are from the Bata Shoe museum. Sorry that they're not really in proper order. That seems to happen when I upload. Regardless, there is an exhibit on the history of the shoe that spans time and cultures. There were a few celebrity shoes that I've labeled. Those were pretty cool. There are a couple other pieces that I've labeled that I thought were noteworthy such as Admiral Nelson's shoe buckles and socks worn by Napolean Bonaparte. The neatest thing, I thought, were the shoes and gloves belonging to Queen Victoria. She has very short fingers and small hands. Another exhibit that was there was the history of pointe shoes. I learned that ballerinas used to use whatever shoe was fashionable at the time to dance in and it was only later in the mid-1800s that they started having that style of shoe developing into the pointe shoe. You can sort of see that modern pointe shoes look somewhat like shoes from the mid-1800s. Very cool.

So, the link to this album is here.
