As promised, quite some time ago I believe, I have pictures. These are some sneak peeks at things I have been working on with my new tambour hook. These are pretty extreme close-ups so you can see the detail. The fabric looks much finer, and less coarse, in real life. It's the harem cloth from Dharma Trading.

A small sample for testing out the hook and trying a fill design for the openwork.

A border of my own design.

A border design copied from an apron in the Kyoto collection, but the fills are of my own design.

Thank you! :) The scallops in the second pic are about 1 3/4 inches, and the circles in the third pic are about 1 1/2 centimetres.

Oh my! You really have done a wonderful job! I love the fill design too.

Out of curiosity, what resources have you found most helpful in learning tambour work?

Thank you! :) The fills are pretty, but they take the most time. The tambour itself goes so quickly.
I used 18th Century Embroidery Techniques by Gail Marsh. It's a gorgeous book and has all sorts of information plus pictures. I really recommend it.

It really is! The instructions are easy to learn from, especially with the combination of pictures, text, and examples.
