You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their lives, and all of a sudden you think, "Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy the queries/statements below, erase the existing answers and put your own in their places, and then post the result in your journal. Please elaborate on the questions which would benefit from elaboration. One-word-answers seldom help anyone out.

***

Name: Sabrina Jennifer Nicole Mark. It's a ridiculously Anglo-sounding name, considering my ancestry is 100% Chinese. When my grandparents (on both sides) immigrated here their last names were changed to English ones. I do have a Chinese name as well, but I never go by it, ever. And meeting people can be ridiculously annoying when people immediately say, "Like Sabrina the Teenage Witch," after hearing my name, because that's *so* clever and original. ;p I was almost a Jennifer though, as my dad wanted to call me that, but my mom intervened.

Age: 22 but I miss being 19.

Location:
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I love it here. :) It's so wide open feeling. And the drastic climate may drive some people nuts, but personally I think it adds character when the temperature can go from 38 to -48 (with the windchill) degrees Celsius in a year. That's 100 to -54 degrees Fahrenheit.

Occupation:
Self-employed/student? No real job at the moment. I would like to start my own business and I am sort of starting to do that now. I don't really want to say much about it until it's actually up and running, but it's very small scale.

Partner:
None. My boyfriend of three and a half years and I broke up this February. It was pretty traumatic and I think I am only now starting to get used to it. Being all mentally and emotionally off-track is another reason I don't have a job right now. But things are getting better, I'm just not sure what to do with myself. :s

Kids:
None. I love kids, but frankly the idea of being responsible for an entire human life frightens me.

Siblings:
A brother who is 24 named Steven. He's also a student of Commerce. We get on each other's nerves sometimes like most siblings, but for the most part I think we have a good relationship.

Pets:
A dog named Pistol. And it's a very apt name. She behaves more like a wild dog than a domesticated one, so she has some rather odd behaviours that can be very umm... difficult at times. She's ridiculously adorable though, which is misleading at times as she can be a little snarly and growly, but I've never been bitten. Her ears are the floppy kind, but she'll put one up to listen, and both up to really listen. Our old dog, Zandra, had to be put down last year which was ridiculously sad. We had her for almost 15 years. She was lovely in every way and I miss her very much. I suppose I should also include the multitude of fish that are in our basement. I think we have something like 4 or 5 aquariums going on right now. It's one of my dad's hobbies. Oh, and I almost forgot! We have a horse named Lacey (short for Chantilly Lace) who is a Polish Arabian. Lacey is lovely too, like a horse version of Zandra personality-wise. She injured both of her back legs a few years back, and is no longer ride-able, but the lady who owns the farm where Lacey lives loves her too and gives her a good deal on a home. :)

List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:
Summer vacation! Wooo! Um, and sort of trying to start my own business. Nothing else really. I don't lead a very exciting life. :)

What did you go to school for?:
Currently in school. I'm at the University of Manitoba studying to get my Bachelor of Commerce. I'm majoring in Entrepreneurship/Small Business, which is interesting. Overall, though, business doesn't really interest me. I think I'm an Arts student at heart. Just a year and a half left to go!

Parents:
Both are teachers, at the same school too as of this past year. My mom teaches home ec.-type stuff. It's from her that I got the sewing gene. Her mother also sewed. Hooray for traditions! My mom doesn't really do much else other that school-y stuff. It keeps her very busy but I think she likes that. My dad teaches gr. 9 math and science. He coaches volleyball and basketball in his free time.  He also likes to golf, and have animal-type hobbies like aquariums, horses, and dogs. We all live together, which I think is very nice of my parents to put up with me and my brother for all this time. Especially when my brother says that he doesn't think he can move out while Pistol's still around because he loves her too much (and she's only turning 4 this year).

Grandparents:
All of my grandparents immigrated from China to Canada in the 1950s. My mom's parents are both dead. Her dad died when she was 17 and her mom died about 15 years ago. I still remember her, but I wish I could have met him. My grandmother would always feed us and take care of us. She also had a garden. My mom tells stories about what a good cook my grandfather was. He was the cook for the Lieutenant Governor, I'm not sure of what province. My other two grandparents are both alive, which makes me think that my dad is very lucky. That grandfather was also a cook. They had a restaurant here up until a few years ago. I don't really know that much about my grandmother. She's very little and worries a lot. They both like to feed us. Whenever we visit they send us home with Chinese food. :)

Who are some of your closest friends?:
Honestly, I have about 15-20 close friends. I've known them all for years, some since I was four years old. We all went to school together, either elementary or high school. While some friends might be closer than others, we're still all pretty tight. A few people have dubbed us "the family", which makes the previously common inter-group dating "incest" which we always thought was kind of funny. But if people in our group hadn't dated, I don't think we'd be so close. It's drifted apart slightly since graduation, but we still get together every year for our annual Christmas potluck, which I think is a wonderful tradition. This coming year will be something like year 7.

What's in rotation:
I don't listen to a lot of music. But I recently saw the movie Across the Universe, so lots of Beatles is stuck in my head.
