My mom was so nice and paid for my fabric today. It was the last day of a sale. For my corset "we" purchased 1m of white cotton twill which was 50% off and 0.7m of linen which was 20% off. Also got some cotton cord and a kind of goldeny-yellow thread that I plan to embroider and maybe sew the cording channels with. I've seen this done in blue and pale gold (both on Karen Augusta Antique Lace & Fashion), but mostly in white. I wanted something that would show up a little more but not show through a thinner fabric in case I ever get a dress made to wear over the corset. : P I'd like to start on this soon but it looks like I'll be busy doing all the hand work on my grad dress as Mom promises to cut it out and get the pieces sewn and fitting this weekend. After that it's all up to me to do the piping to finish all the edges and to create the frogs. Did I mention that it's going to be a Chinese-style dress i.e. cheongsam? Well that's about it for sewing. I forgot to get something to lace up the corset. Oh well, not like I'm going to be needing a lace anytime soon.

Tomorrow is my class's Art field trip. We spend the entire day downtown and all we need to have done is 4 thumnails (small, rough sketches). I didn't get to go last year because I wasn't able to switch Physics to take Art, but everyone else said it's amazingly fun. Should be interesting. That also means I won't have any homework since my provincial English exam is the day after the long weekend. (Victoria Day on Monday.) Today in Art I threw my first pot on the potter's wheel. The great thing about this assignment is that it's a self-taught one and you really have the choice to do whatever you want.
