18th Century Stays

Well, my friend sent me a few pics of her in the stays, bumroll, and petticoat.

She's wearing the bumroll and petticoat under the stays, which accounts for the weirdness at the back/looseness at the bottom of the stays. Not historically accurate, but the stays look prettier out. Shows off all that ridiculous hand-sewing of the tab binding. The make-up is pretty cool too. Nice and fake looking. ;)

Thanks! She had read a book set in the 18th century about a prostitute that she really liked. And what's more prostitute than underwear? (Well, I guess no clothes, but you can't really wear that to a Hallowe'en party. ;p)

Thanks! When I was showing her ideas I used pictures of the green stays you made with the lacing over the stomacher, which I thought was so pretty.
