Very upset

Okay, maybe I should have posted this earlier before I got several drinks in me, as I was very disgruntled earlier. I had rented Four Hundred Years in Fashion and Revolution in Fashion before. Here's the downer. Revolution in Fashion has several pages missing, namely from the era that I really wanted to see. And Four Hundred Years of Fashion is missing a page too. So upsetting.

In other news, I'm done mid-terms! Yay! And so I celebrated with many beers. It was a good time. Now to study for a quiz. :)

Congrats on finishing your midterms!

Sorry the books are missing pages. A lot of the pictures from the Revolution in Fashion book are in the Kyoto Fashion book too.

Thank you!
Yeah it sucks. I mean, seriously, why are people such jerks that they have to rip up books. I think I've seen some of the missing pages online though, so it's not too bad. I wish the library had the Kyoto Fashion book. That'd be sweet.

>=\ That's just not right! They're public property! Why would someone even *think* that it was ok to tear out a page or two?! Of course, I read my books so that the binding never creases and I never *never* dog ear pages. If anyone asks to borrow a book they have to get this long list of "please don't..." requests before I give it to them.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'm slightly OCD in some regards... like when people come visit and "help" in the kitchen. It drives me nuts! There's almost always little food particles on the dishes that they help wash and they always put things away in the wrong spot! I know I should be grateful for the help, but I'd really rather they just leave it there and let me take care of it myself. Yeah. I'm crazy. ;-)

I'm like that too with books. Almost all of my books (except for the ones I've had about 15 years) are in pretty much pristine condition, like they just came out of the bookstore. I HATE lending my books. I'm always scared something will happen to them. I told one girl that she had to treat my book better than her possible future first born child. :) Seeing books in bad condition just makes me want to cry. They look so upset and neglected. I have one book that was all nice that I lent out and now it definitely does not look the same at all. (A little food spot, water damage. *sigh*) I am never lending out books again. Another friend bought me a new copy because the one I lent her got dirty. Which was nice, but I think I'd rather have the original. So, Never Again, I say! Not my precious books. (Okay, who's crazy now? Muahahaha!)

I think we're all rather OCD. Otherwise how would we be able to do hours and hours of extensive and detailed costume research, rip our hair out over perfect fit and cut, and meticulously sew garments by hand? That can't be normal. ;p

Lol! Well, I guess you've definitely got me there! ;-) I'm right there with you. Even after the admonishments, people laugh at my requests, and then I make it really awkward by saying "No really. I'm completely serious. I really care a lot about my books." At which point I sometimes think they begin to question borrowing it in the first place as I may actually hurt them. Of course, then they're much more likely to not screw up my book! I thumb through all of the books (or magazines, yes I do this with magazines too) on the shelf to purchase the absolute most pristine one that I can find.

One time I remember getting a book at Wal-Mart and there was only one that didn't have bent corners or torn binding/spine. When I checked out the cashier just chunked it in the bag then threw canned food on top of it! I pulled it out and sure enough, the corner was bent. I handed it back to her and said I didn't want it. She gives me a weird look. I tell her that I don't like books with dings and bends. She asks if I wanted to go get another one and I tell her that that book was the only acceptable one on the shelf. I'm sure she went home and told her family about the insane book lady she met that day.

ARGH! ...and don't even get me *started* on people "borrowing" my patterns! I'd rather just give it to them and let them take it home so that I never ever have to see the destruction again! I take extra care to fold it up exactly on the lines that it was folded on to start with (however crazy those lines may be) so that it fits back in the envelope that it came in. One friend didn't even respect this at all and just mushed it together and handed it back to me in a one gallon zip lock bag! Oh! The horror! I resisted as long as I could, but she just wouldn't leave and I had to pull it out and fold it properly right there in front of her because if I didn't take care of it soon I was going to explode!!!

Lol! Well, whew! I sure do feel better now! ;-) Hope I've entertained you with some of my crazy :-D

Glad to hear I'm not the only crazy one. I like hearing about your crazy. I makes me feel less alone with my neurotic-ness. So many people just DON'T get it. Silly non-crazy people. They never seem to take good enough care of anything, at least by my standards. And if they don't take good care of their things, then your things are pretty much screwed. :p

I look for the nicest copy at bookstores too. I think I picked that up from my dad though, so it's inherited crazy-ness. I felt kind of bad for one friend I lent a book to. She knows how much I love my books and try to keep them nice, and she took such good care of it to keep it that way, and then managed to lose it. So, to this day we have no idea where it went. She thought she gave it back to me, but she didn't. So she got me a new copy of that one. (Which was kind of better because it was a 25th anniversary edition with extra stuff I wanted.)

I always try to refold patterns on the original lines too. Otherwise they just don't fit back in the envelope properly, all nice and flat. But that can get difficult as the lines aren't always obvious. *sigh* ;)

We need help. :)
