Here are two different sets of pictures.
I finally finished the binding on the top of the gold stays last night. So there are pictures of that.

The outside

A detail of the binding

The inside, with the beautifully finished seams that I'm so proud of :)

Also, after reading [personal profile] jennylafleur's post about waving hair, I decided to give it a try. Someone who commented on her entry put in a link about waving using a single-barrelled iron. That's what's at my house, so here are the results. Only the front as the back wouldn't wave for some reason. It didn't take that long. Maybe half an hour or so, and that includes waiting for the second iron to heat up, and a little bit of unpacking groceries for my mom. (Sorry, no smiles. I was concentrating too hard on getting pictures. :) )

My bangs were waved with a smaller barrelled iron. My longer hair is pulled back into a ponytail. (I look cross-eyed. Teehee!)

A picture taken by my mom, so my face isn't covered by a camera.

With my hair out of the ponytail. I had made some attempt at curling the ends, but it didn't go well. If I ever try to do this hairstyle for real I think I'll try pincurling the long hair.

Hope you enjoy!

The stays look wonderful and I think that is really cool what you did wit your hair! I wonder if my very curly hair could ever do waves...

Thank you! :) You could probably wave your hair, just because the heat of the iron would take out the curl. My hair won't keep curl or wave, but the curling iron really kept in the wave for some reason. It was still there when I woke up this morning! (Of course I washed it out because I don't think I could go to school with half a head of 30s hair. ;p)

Your hair will do waves if you work with the natural wave/curl pattern. I have very curly hair and when I was at cosmetology school, it made the other girls use me as a fingerwave model quite often. The curls usually mean your wave will set in longer but if it isn't totally dry you'll look goofy. HTH :D

i have my yellow brocade stays stashed away somewhere in my closet. if i wasn't busy with my regency gown i'd pull them out right now and start sewing. you got my rococo juices going. my next goal is to finish my stays and it is about time because i've been stalling on them for a few years now. *sigh*

be well,
tessalina

CADD strikes again! Muahahaha! ;) I'm glad I'm almost done these ones. For the record, I've techinically been working on these stays since January. I'm starting to wish they were mine instead of for my friend. I've been working on mine for a few years as well, and they aren't nearly as nice. ;p
