1864 Shawl Done!

After over a year and a half, here it is! And a few pictures. The shawl after the knitting was done, but before the fringe was added. And the finished shawl with fringe and on me for scale. It's huge! And cozy.



My camera doesn't seem to want to capture the colours properly. Oh well. I didn't block it. Not sure if it needs it. What do you think?

It looks so big and pretty and comfy! How many skeins of yarn did you end up using?

It's a big blanket, basically! :) Almost ten skeins of the maroon (they were small ones, but altogether about 1000 yards) and a little over one skein of the cream, which is Cascade 220 (maybe about 300 yards?). It was a lot, but all the maroon came free from an old Chinese lady who was downsizing and giving away tons of old yarns. This stuff was newer, but I got some vintage stuff that is like 1940s-1960s.

Thanks! To be objective, it's about 1m long including the fringe. It would keep your shoulders warm, for sure! ;p

Thanks! It's the 1864 Godey's Knitted Winter Shawl. It's on Ravelry and somewhere else on the internet. It's all garter stitch with a couple increases, so super easy to make, just time-consuming.
