I bought this pattern

New Look 6225 is the pattern that I just purchased to print.

It's a nice and simple basics pattern. I want to alter it so that there is a waist seam with a skirt (so that I can add inset pockets, which I prefer for stability) and add an elastic at the waist. Then I can make it up into a nice summer dress for a outdoor casual wedding I'm going to on July 1st.

But the real reason I wanted this pattern is so that I can use it to make up nicer shirts/blouses to add to my "grown-up" wardrobe. When I'm in St. Paul in August, I want to pick up some fabrics at Treadle Yard Goods (like challis or lawn or maybe silks), so I can whip up a couple of tops. While I have lots of nice sweaters and even a couple of pairs of dressier pants, I am woefully lacking in blouses/dress shirts. I wanted the really simple top so that I would actually make it because it wouldn't be a big time investment and give me an excuse to avoid doing it.

Ooh, yay, fabric shopping! I definitely feel ya on the grown up wardrobe thing. Maybe I will have one someday.

So excited to buy nice things! Grown up wardrobe is hard! It often involves difficult to make pieces that are usually polyester when off-the-rack. Ick.

My dress version is coming along fairly nicely, although hit a couple of snags along the way. I have a pretty emerald green cotton with little white polka dots. Should have pictures of the finished product next week. :)
