St. Patrick's Day

So I am currently living in a college town. Which means it's full of undergrads, many of whom are away from their parents for the first time. And it's St. Patrick's Day today. I also live by the university. The streets are CRAMMED full of students wearing green and they are in various states of inebriation. Seriously, you can hear the music from house parties and walking to school today I saw people dressed in green hanging out on roofs (because apparently that is a thing that people do here). I've never seen anything like this. I'm glad that I also saw several police cars patrolling. I'm just a cranky old lady who wants to shake a cane at them and yell, "Get off my lawn!" And no, I don't have a lawn here. I'm in an apartment.

Another student told me that last year she had to get a girl off the street who was just lying in the middle of the street because she decided to take a nap there and her friends were on the sidewalk laughing. I mean, we all do stupid things in our youth, especially when drunk, but I hope I was never as annoying to others as these people are to me... Although I probably was and this is karma. ;p

I remember my friends doing stupid things. The dumbest thing I remember is throwing a hay barrel out the second floor window - apparently, it's illegal in Baltimore and we had to do it! ...Mainly because we couldn't figure out how to take a lion to the movies...

The fireworks at 1:30am felt like a bit of a disaster to me. Apparently someone was hospitalized after falling off a balcony.

And according to the news, I was not the only cranky person.
