I had to get up really early yesterday to get ready for my friend's wedding. The wedding was at her cottage on the lake just over an hour away from the city. It was really beautiful, even though the weather wasn't very nice (intermittent rain and lots of wind) and we were all freezing, especially those of us in bridesmaid dresses. But the food was great and it was a lot of fun seeing almost all of my friends in one place and coming together to celebrate the marriage of two of our friends.
After the ceremony there were a few speeches, all of which were very funny as well as heart-warming. And then we spent the rest of the night drinking, dancing, and talking. I didn't stay super late, but apparently the party went on past four in the morning.
I stayed with my boyfriend at his parents' cabin which was nearby. I was very happy to finally take off all the makeup that seemed to be plastered on my face. Seriously, I applied some makeup remover with a Kleenex and the first wipe made a dramatic, highly visible streak across my face. I don't think I've ever had so much makeup on my face in my entire life, and that includes the other two weddings I've been a bridesmaid in. Ridiculous!
bauhausfrau's story of being taken for much younger than her actual age reminds me of another thing that happened during the day. I happened to be talking to the bride's 10-year-old niece and mentioned my older brother. She asked how old he was and I said 30. Her response was, "Wow. That's old!" I said he's not that old, only 2 years older than me. To which she responded, "How old are you?" I told her, "28, the same age as your aunt." And then she said, shocked, "Oh! I thought you were 15." Haha! It's pretty common that people think I'm younger than I am. Later that night another bridesmaid asked our friends, "How old do you think [the bride's] niece thought Sabrina was?" And one immediately answered, "15." I'm not sure it's quite as complimentary as Loren's experience. ;p
It's good to be back home and have one wedding done. I'm not very busy this week so I will be able to do lots of sewing and hopefully finish my Tyrell costume bodice.
