1790s Chemise Gown Mock-up 1
May. 16th, 2014 07:08 pmI'm being super Posty McPostersons lately. I think that's a good thing.
Anyways, here's mock-up 1 with adjustments. Fabric is mismatched, random scraps that were hanging around. To reiterate, I'm using the lining of the open robe from Janet Arnold's Patterns of Fashion Vol. 1 as a base. I lengthened the whole thing at the top and bottom. After trying on, I had to take in the top on the side-back seam and let out a lot at the waist. I also changed the angle of the straps at the back shoulder.

I really like the small back and the way the armscye is set back. I need to cut down the armscye a bit at the bottom front. I also need to level out the waist on the front piece, straighten out the front so it is vertical, and add a bit of height at the top so it covers my stays. I LOVE how few seams there are to sew. Makes putting together a mock-up super fast. Next I need to trace it all out in the right shapes so I have a paper pattern and then make another mock-up, this time with a sleeve.
I will be so glad when the day comes that I have several base patterns and will no longer have to do fiddly mock-ups!
