Moar fabric!
Jan. 17th, 2012 05:44 pmWell, there was a big sale at my local fabric store. Everything was 50% off. So I got stuff. ;) But it's all for near-future projects that have a definite plan and will be made in the next three months. So I wasn't completely bad.
Firstly we have an emerald green knit that I want to make a top out of. I have a coral knit top that I absolutely love and want to try and copy. That way I won't feel awkward going around wearing the Exact Same Shirt all the time. It's not quite as dark as in the picture, and it's slightly more teal. I was experimenting with effects on my camera trying to get the most true to life and most of them were too light.

Next, I'm jumping on the 1912 evening gown bandwagon. I had some leftover green fabric that ought to be enough to make a significant portion of the dress. I got some 70% off black poly chiffon to go with ($3.60/m!) And this gorgeous beaded and embroidered net trim. In this pic, the green is actually rather washed out. Mentally switch the greens in the two photos and you get the right colours lol.

My inspiration for this dress is this Paul Poiret gown at the Kyoto Costume Institute.
