I went to the local antiques store with my dad yesterday. He was looking for records. I was on the search for sewing/costume-related things. I did see a fashion plate from 1837 which was pretty cool, but was out of my price range. (Now that school is starting up, I really need to get a job or cut back even more on spending. Textbooks are pricy!) Instead I got a new brooch. The lady working there dated it to the 1940s-1950s. It's two little birds on a twig. So cute! And it's covered in marcasite, which was something I'd been wanting. Second choice was a maracasite Art Deco bar pin, but I already have a bar pin, so I decided against it. Unfortunately, no pictures. My camera is still being difficult.
In sewing news, today I am going to get together a pattern to make a blouse out of what's leftover of the ivory satin. I want to use the wrong side, so it's not so shiny. Should be a good addition to the autumn wardrobe. And our weather has been so dark and rainy lately that it's a good time to be thinking about autumn clothes.
