More shorts

I loved my black shorts so much that I decided to make another pair out of some denim that I had sitting around. (It was going to be a jacket, but that was so many years ago that it changed its mind.) The denim is a really dark blue, so I've been doing bright red top-stitching. Unfortunately, in some places it doesn't show quite as much as I'd like, but it's still a nice detail. There's also a bit of stretch in the fabric, which helps get a good fit. Of course, I didn't realize that there was elastic in the fabric until after I ironed it, thus leaving a bit of blue gunk on the iron. *Oops!* Aside from that, the process has been very smooth. I've never learned the joy of making something from a tried and true pattern before. It's great! I did almost all the work yesterday. All that's left for today is the zipper, the waistband, a bit of top-stitching, and the hems. I'm going to put a rolled cuff on the bottom. The contrast of the much lighter back of the denim with the dark blue looks really sharp.
