My camera decided to work this afternoon, so I had to make hay while the sun shone and take some pictures of my not-quite-finished, current sewing projects. So here are my ivory slip and knickers. Made from some sort of synthetic satin that feels nice and is pretty thin. The patterns were drafted up from vintage drafting instructions from 1940 that I made some changes to, such as cutting separate bust pieces for the slip which originally just had princess seams.

The slip really fits like a dream. Once I got the bust sorted out, the only other thing I needed to change was to take in the back princess seams a bit to deal with my swayback. Pictures are on the dress dummy (whom I like to call Suzy) because once the camera started working I didn't want to waste time putting the slip on, just in case the camera decided to not work again. So here are front and back shots.

And the matching knickers. These still need a top hem and snaps. I shortened the legs quite a bit. I also took off about an inch from the top to that they didn't sit quite so high. Construction on these was super easy for the most part because it's only four pieces, and they required very little adjustment.

Continuous placket! (First time I've tried this.)

I think that these two vintage inspired lingerie pieces are really cute. I really like the lace trim and how well it coordinates with the ivory satin. I'm thinking of may making up some later in other fabrics. The slip could make a nice sun dress in a cotton print and the knickers would be really comfortable pajama shorts in flannel.
