Still sewing
Jun. 8th, 2011 05:11 pmNow, 2/3 quilt leftovers are used up. The apron was one, and the tank dress was going to be another. However, after sewing together the skirt and trying it on with the tank top, the skirt actually works better on its own. I put pockets into it which is a big plus. But the skirt is not quite full enough to handle having much stuff in the pockets, the skirt just gets distorted. Also, because it was made with leftovers, it's a tad on the short side. But I can always wear tights or leggings with it, and it's not ridiculously short or anything. I've also decided that I'm really just not that into elastic waistbands. Maybe because this one wasn't quite wide enough (couldn't find any super wide black elastic), I'm not sure. It's alright, but probably not something I'm going to do again.
For the third leftover piece, I want to make another skirt, a flouncy skirt with a yoke and pockets. (A lack of pockets actually makes me not wear things, so pockets are pretty much a must in all the new things I sew, unless it's a fancier sort of thing.) I think I'll have just enough to do this. I'm going to try to draft up the yoke today to see.
So far this year, I've finished 6 projects. Counting this month, that's one for every month. Since it's the beginning of June, I'm planning on getting about three projects done this month. Wish me luck!
