Sewing progress pictures

So you can see what I've been sewing the past little while...
Here we have various pictures, a couple of yours truly and one of what yours truly has been working on. Firstly, the green stays, both front and back. I am currently whipstitching seam allowances so the inside looks all pretty. But here's the outside on me. No straps yet, and the tabs haven't all been cut either.

The other project I've been working on, during some of the hours I'm at school without classes, is some embroidery. I want to learn silk embroidery, but I figured I could learn the techniques with the cotton embroidery floss I already have. (I used stem stitch, satin stitch, and long and short stitch.) So this is my little embroidery on some broadcloth that was laying around. It's a carnation with heartsease. For the outside of the heartsease I used a variegated purple thread which was fun.  I'm going to do a mirror image of this design and make them up into sort-of-18th-century-repro mitts. Eventually I'll get some nice silk and silk floss and do the real thing, but I think this is good practice for now. And I can actually see my stitches improving, which is nice. Sorry the picture's so blurry. I'm not sure if my camera just doesn't do close-up photos or I just don't know enough about my camera to make it take nice close-ups. Either option is equally likely. :p

Very nice 18th c projects! I love the fabric on your stays!

Thanks! The fabric was originally supposed to be 18th century style doll clothes, but you know how fabric tends to change its mind. ;) It decided it'd rather be my stays.

Thanks so much! :) It's not as nice as it looks though. The blurry picture seems to be working to my advantage. ;)
