Still making stays

I got the boning channels on all the piece sewn. And I have the seam allowances sewn down for all 4 front-most pieces. I'm more or less using the method that koshka_the_cat describes here for her 1780s stays. Katherine is being very inspiring and motivating for me right now as she works on her own stays. I should really take some pictures of my stays, but I just haven't. Oh well. It's more important that they're getting made.

It helps me relax. I've been feeling kind of stressed out lately, but it's really soothing to me to put the reed in all the channels. Also, I feel more productive while watching hockey games on tv if I've also gotten some sewing done. :)

I always sew when watching TV because I like that productive feeling too. Of course, I didn't do so well while watching the Olympic ice-skating last night because you really do need to WATCH that!

(And looking at your response to Katherine's comment, I suspect she has a lot more free time than you do!)

I tend to have to be selective about what I watch when sewing, otherwise I totally miss on one or the other!

I definitely have the time to be more productive with sewing. It's just that sometimes there are steps that I don't want to do or it just seems so much easier to leisure read than to sew. It's silly though because I enjoy the sewing once it's happening.

I guess a lot of what I watch can mostly be followed through the script so it doesn't matter if I don't pay attention. I also watch a lot of things that can be paused while I go to use the sewing machine, though I haven't been using it much lately.

Sewing machine sewing while tv watching can get a bit tricky. If I'm using the sewing machine I like to watch the Food Network. :) Hand-sewing is much more convenient for tv though.

I am trying to keep up with you, but darn I'm slow. ;p Even though I machine sewed all the channels and started long before you, and you made a whole dress, we're still around the same point. lol It's good for me to see the steps as you do them though so I can compare.
