Since I've had the idea of making a cotton shirtdress for some time now, and have the right fabric and a couple of vintage pattern options, I decided to take part in the Fall for Cotton Vintage Sewalong.
My fabric is a slate blue and white plaid and I want to use either an early 1960s pattern that I bought a while ago or a 1940s one that should be here soon, which I ordered from Vintage Martini. Here's option one:

This doesn't start until September 1st, so I still have time to get a couple other projects out of the way. These include a pair of pyjama pants for my boyfriend because it will be our first anniversary this Monday. They are made out of flannelette printed with Animal from the Muppets. They are already over half done. A super quick project, since I only started them yesterday. My other project in the works is a dress for my friends' wedding which will be on Sept. 21st, but that I want to have done before starting the shirtdress. The fabric is a dark green synthetic with a woven-in print of roses. I'm planning on making a simple wiggle dress with straps, so that shouldn't take too long since I already have a workable bodice pattern. I'm still plugging away at my stays and am almost done the eyelets. Only five more to go! The only other project that I really want to do some work on soon is a corset cover using [livejournal.com profile] jennil's pattern. After these things, it'll be time to get working on a Halloween costume. With grad studies starting up in September, I don't think I'll have much time during school to be sewing so I want to make some good progress now.
