Getting Things Done
Oct. 27th, 2009 10:02 amI finished my friend's Halloween costume on Sunday. I don't have any pics of the finished product, silly me, because I forgot to bring my camera when I dropped it off to her. Hopefully there will be some pics on Saturday of her with her hair and make-up all done and in costume. It turned out really well. I was pretty satisfied. Of course, there are a few things I would fix/change, but not too many, which is unusual. I've also gotten around to starting work on my costume. I have some really thin, ruby red satin that I made all pleat-y and crinkly using this method: costumes.org/classes/254pages/PROJECTS/fortunyfake2.htm. This process was super easy to do and I highly recommend it. The finished product is beautiful. The pleating really picks up the light in a wonderful way, especially since it's a satin. So rich and luxurious looking. This is for my not-accurate-at all Ancient Roman costume. The top will be bound with lavender ribbon and I got some matching lavender cord to use as a girdle/belt. I also picked up some gold earrings that have fake coins dangling from them and a few thin gold bangles. I've made up a really simple pattern, modifying my last year's costume pattern which used a really simple slip/underdress. I'm hoping that this will be easy to make up. It's just two pieces that get bound at the top and hemmed at the bottom. Pretty simple stuff. *crosses fingers so that I don't jinx myself* All that I need now is something for my hair, like some ivy or a laurel wreath type thing. :)
