Spring?

I just planted some sweet peas in my "garden" (which really consists of 3 planters: 2 square, 1 rectangle). Chives have already begun coming up in their own square planter. I put the sweet peas in the rectangle one, which it will share with a couple cherry tomatoes. (I really hope I'm not over-crowding. I have almost no experience or knowledge with gardening, but every year has been better than the last, so progress!) Basil will be having its own square planter. Hoping to expand my garden this year significantly, which my parents are highly supportive of. So more planters!

Now, it may seem a bit late to start planting anything. And, granted, for most people, especially those on my f-list, this is probably true. But it is a rule of thumb here to not get things in the ground until after the May long weekend. And I keep reading in places that you should start sweet peas around 6 weeks before the last frost. Now, mixing these up a bit, May long weekend is next weekend, and I only planted my sweet peas today. (I also only bought the seeds today on a whim, while purchasing my mom some flowers as a belated Mother's Day present. Purple and red tulips, yellow daffodils, and some yellow sprayella? or something to that effect. Whatever, it looks pretty in a big jar.) But what people probably are not taking into account is the fact that I live here. Not there.

Here = Where It Snowed Yesterday!!!

Seriously, people. I cannot make this stuff up. It was raining, and just below freezing temperature, and it started to snow. I could not believe it. And I do not live anywhere that is ridiculously far north. I live just a couple hours away from the US border! Needless to say, the softball game we were supposed to have yesterday was also cancelled. Although, due to rain or snow, I'm not sure. Boo!

Looking on the bright side of things... Today it was slightly warmer. Just above freezing. There was also a windchill today and yesterday. (It boggles the mind.) But there are now flowers in the house and hopefully flowers outside the house. Plus I purchased myself a nice gift of chocolate bars that have hazelnuts in them. Yum! And, I've started my crafts for the swap/meme thingy. Well, I've started one so far. It is going very well, swimmingly even. That's really all I can say at the moment, because it should be a surprise. But I will take pictures and post them after the crafts have been received. They will be very crafty, I am thinking. And pretty! :)
