Knitting that scarf for my mom, and seeing everyone else on my friend's lists making wonderful knitted projects, really got me into the whole knitting thing. So today, my mom and I went out and bought a whole bunch of knitting stuff. She bought me a knitting book for Christmas that has lots of useful info in it, from basic stuff to projects and even a small section on knitting from the 1920s-2000. She also bought me some double pointed needles (dpns), but they're kinda big (size 10). So today I got two more sets of dpns (sizes 3 and 1) and a set of size 7 regular needles. My other needles are like size 11 and 13, I think, so I needed some smaller ones to round out my artillery. ;) I also bought a bunch of yarn. Some brown mixed with pink boucle to make a scarf for my grandmother. I bought brown and red yarn to make a striped scarf for my grandfather. And I also got some brown yarn and some dull pinkish-red to make myself a couple pairs of mitts or something. Oh, and lastly, some very fine crochet cotton, so I can learn to knit lace. There are a whole bunch of free lace patterns online from the 1800s that I want to take advantage of. :) I've already started my grandmother's scarf. I'm doing the thing in moss stitch (k1, p1), but the pattern probably won't show too much because it's all fuzzy and nubbly. It's still fun to practice, though. Can you tell that I'm really excited? :)
