Stays progress

Slowly but surely, it's coming along. I am now almost finished the binding on the top. Just around the strap and the back part left, on the outside. My plan is to finish that and get started on the bottom tonight. If only tabs weren't such a pain. However, I definitely got rid of two tabs on each side, so it won't be as bad as it might have been.

I'm using a very modified version of this Leloir pattern. I didn't notice that it was 1715 when I first started with it. But I've made a LOT of changes. And I think it gives the right shape now, if it didn't before. I was aiming for around 1760s-ish. The front two pieces are combined into one piece. The side piece is much smaller, thus creating only two tabs there instead of three. (The whole thing was rather too big when I made my first mock-up.) I also changed the side-back pieces to only have two tabs as well. I made weird lengthening changes that I later had to shorten out of it, in odd places. When I'm done with the binding I'll post pics of the finished product, including pics of me wearing it. Even though it's made for my friend, she has the same proportions as me, just a couple inches bigger, but she squished down to be the same size as me. So it fits both of us. I thought that was weird.

Well, I've been taking a rather longer break than I intended. I have to get back to the dreaded Land of Homework. :p
