Various things
Mar. 27th, 2007 05:30 pmIt's Spring Break here, not for me, but for my parents. They're both teachers. Having them around makes this house seem too small. And it's annoying because they like to talk to each other loudly, sometimes across the house while I'm trying to do homework. Silly parents. On the plus side, I don't have to take the bus ever, because they drive me. University Spring Break (called Reading Week) occurs in February, which is too bad, as the weather isn't very nice then. The weather the past few days has been glorious. All mild and warm. Perfect weather for reading my Spring Break Book: I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. It's my favourite book, and I bought it during a Spring Break sometime in high school, so I only read it once a year at the same time. The book also happens to begin in March, so it's a perfect match. Usually it makes me feel like drinking cocoa (they seem to constantly be drinking cocoa), but this year it makes me feel like ham. Mmmm... ham and mustard, or ham in pea soup. Yummy.
Nothing to say on the sewing front. I believe the sewing maching is still all wonky, but only if you sew on it for a little while. It's very irritating as it breaks down right when I start getting into the swing of things. I suppose I could rip apart my friends stays and cut out the fashion fabric layer for them. I think I am also going to move the front piece upwards a bit, as it seemed to be cut just a little too low. Our local fabric store is having a sale in the near future with stuff 50-70% off, and I have a $25 gift certificate... Maybe I'll pick up a bunch of white cotton, for linings and underthings and such. One can never have too much white cotton in my opinion. And with my CADD, all of a sudden I am wanting a sky-blue taffeta early 1860s ensemble. I blame
koshka_the_cat and
demode_kvc with their lovely 1860s dresses going on right now. I will exercise some willpower however and keep on with the 18th century. If only that sewing machine was working...
And for kicks, a picture of the puppies. Everyone else seems to have cats, and while I do adore cats, my family doesn't, so dogs it is. The little one is a lot bigger and a holy terror now. (Aptly named Pistol, which is really a coincidence, since we named her before we got her.) The big one has left us, and I miss her like I've never missed anything before. (Zandra, as her name had to start with a "Z" and there's really only so many good names like that.)
