Marie Antoinette
Nov. 5th, 2006 02:43 pmI saw the movie on Friday. I sort of knew what to expect from listening to everyone else talk about it. So, when it started off really slow, it was a little weird, but then I got used to it. I didn't mind the slow pacing after a while. It became enjoyable. More time to look at the costumes. Especially the white chemise-type gowns and the redingotes. I also liked the riding habit that MA wears when handing out food at the hunt. Also noteable was her turquoise-y striped polonaise with the en fourreau back. Mmmm... that movie was like a bunch of costume candy. It ended oddly though, I thought. Although I don't really know how else they'd end it, so I guess the ending was alright. Just odd. My favourite scenes were the awkward bedroom ones with MA and Louis. I thought they were hilarious. I have never seen anything that was just so entirely awkward and uncomfortable. The worst, I thought, was the daydream about Ferson at war. That was pretty over-the-top. Too romance novel type thingy.
Well those are my thoughts on it. Overall, it was a different, but enjoyable movie.
