Slowly, but surely
Oct. 20th, 2006 01:15 pmSteady progress is being made on the jacket. It would probably be going faster if I didn't randomly sew the wrong things together, or forget to sew stuff together meaning that I have to change the thread in the machine. So far I have the bodice sewn and the bodice lining, the velveteen sleeves are sewn together as well, but I managed to miss sewing together one of the lining sleeves. All of those bits are baglined, then I'm flatlining the sleeves to the bodice. I also enlarged the pattern for the pocket flap and cuff. What's left:
-Finish sleeve, attach bodice to lining, and attach sleeves.
-Enlarge pattern for skirts and cut out twill and the rest of the velveteen.
-Trim pocket flap and sew pocket in skirts.
-Sew skirts together, then to bodice, then trim.
-Sew cuffs together, then trim, then to sleeves.
-Sew on buttons.
I figure that if I do two of those each day, then I should be done on Sunday, which leaves me plenty of time to finish the shirt. (I need to hem parts of it, put on a collar, and put on ruffled cuffs.) I'm probably going to alter the shirt some later, so it will look more like an 18th century habit shirt to some degree.
