It's My Party...
Feb. 12th, 2005 02:13 pmWell, today is my birthday. I am now 19. It sort of makes me feel a little old, but only, I think, because I was having such a good time being 17 and now that's a whole two years ago. Went to the bar last night to celebrate another friend's birthday. She just turned 18. I drank a lot... well, a lot for me. There was a lot of cause for celebration though as it was Friday (the best day of the week), the day before my birthday, AND THE VERY BEGINNING OF SPRING BREAK! All of these things caused me to be very happy and excited.
Plans for tonight include going to my boyfriend's house as he is throwing me a birthday party so that I wouldn't have to go to the bar (I very much dislike the bar) and being drunk again. Everyone wants me hungover tomorrow. That will involve drinking a significant amount. I almost never get hungover. I have been hungover once in my drinking career. Usually I wake up the next morning feeling extra good after a night of partying. How odd.
Um... on another front. I have been developing more and more mental plans for things I would like to sew. I saw these front-laced 18th century stays in the Real Women's Clothing section of Demode and decided that I needed to have some... Not that I'm finished my 1830-ish stays or anything. Actually, the only thing I have been able to finish is a little black dress I made for a social that was held Dec. 18th, which was a formal social. So I made a little black dress out of duchesse satin (which was SO much fun to sew and had such a nice hand and was the perfect choice for my dress pattern). I changed the pattern quite a bit. It's above the knee, just a little bit a-line, with a high neckline at the front (think Audrey Hepburn's dress in Sabrina, the one she wears on the cover of the movie), thick straps, and a back that I raised about two inches higher than the pattern had it. I got a great deal of complements. It is definitely the best thing that I have ever sewn.
Not much else to say. We got a new puppy a few months ago. She's a bit of a handful and totally fits her name, Pistol. I just got back from taking her out for a walk. I think she rather annoys our other dog, who is much less active... as well as being 12 years older than her. Interestingly enough, they are related.
