Lately...

I've been working on my clay head for art. It was supposed to be of Audrey Hepburn but there's only a very very very faint resemblance. It's cool though because the assignment is only that the head has to look human. Unfortunately, today the right ear fell off while I was trying to smooth the other side of the face. I was panicking trying to get it stuck back on because I had to leave class early. (More on that later.)

I'm going to Europe in 15 days. It's a trip with people from school but somehow it's not a school-based trip. We go to Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, and England for 17 days. That's the main reason I got the digital camera for my birthday. I have some major shopping to do tomorrow. There's so much I want to see in Europe, namely the museums. I'm sort of excited but it still doesn't feel like it's really happening yet so I can't get really excited. Tried to get some money out from the bank today to get all my money in order for the trip. However, the only signer for my account is my mom since it's some sort of "special" account so I couldn't do any withdrawels or anything. You'd think my mom would have remembered this before telling me to go to the bank and getting after me for not having gone yet. The only upside to the useless trip to the bank was that my brother got to apply for two credit cards. Although what he plans on doing with them I have no idea. My dad and I bought my suitcase. It's fairly big and red. It has wheels and a pull-out handle and a lock for the main zipper. I've never really had a suitcase. My previous one was sort of a duffle bag type.

I started sewing my denim jacket this weekend. I shouldn't have taken me too long but I have a habit of starting and not finishing things. Also my mom told me she needed the kitchen table where I had set up my own machine. So I took down my machine and put it in the living room. Then she's doing all her school stuff in the living room (she's a teacher) for a fair chunk of time and when I've finally deemed it safe to possibly start sewing again in the kitchen she relocates there with all her stuff. It was interesting. Eventually I just gave up. I'll try to get it done for Europe.

The reason I had to leave my art class early was to go to a funeral. It was the funeral of my kindergarten teacher. I was at the same school from nursery to grade 8. Every single one of my teachers from grade 1 to grade 8 was there. It was so weird. I remember that my teacher was really nice. She taught us how to write the date properly and to share the playhouse. I remember playing with blocks. That was all 13 years ago. She was only 55 and she died of cancer. It's really sad because it wasn't just her, but a lot of her family also died recently. I sat beside my teacher from grades 3&4 and my friend who I went with who was also a former student. The entire church was full as well as the balcony. I was sitting where the choir usually sits on the platform and there were more people in the basement where they had speakers so you could hear the service. I live really near the school and I used to see her every once in a while at the grocery store or some other store. She always remembered who I was. She was also my brother's teacher. It's hard to believe she's gone. It's just so weird. I remember in kindergarten I thought she was so old but she was really only in her early forties. I can't get over how strange it all is.

Well, that's all that has happened recently.
