Smooth Sailing in Grey
The Challenge: HSF #2 Innovation
Fabric: Grey wool with a tiny woven plaid/check/cross-barred
Pattern: Wearing History Smooth Sailing Trousers (with minor alterations)
Year: c. 1940
Notions: zipper, button, thread
How historically accurate is it? Fairly accurate aside from the modern zipper, button, overlocking, and machine buttonhole.
Hours to complete: Not sure, a few hours here and there over the past week and a half.
First worn: Yet to be done.
Total cost: Approximately $20? I can't remember because I bought the fabric so long ago. Not counting the pattern because I've used it for other things.
(True confessions time. These have yet to be hemmed. But I want to do that by hand and I don't have the time at the moment to get it done, nor do I have any sort of occasion to wear them in the immediate future. I will have the time to finish them soon, though. So a bit of a cheat. But you'd never know if I didn't tell you. Also pictures seem to reveal a discrepancy in length so that will also need to be remedied. Darn. ;p)
