First in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time

Bah! Yes, I know I haven't written in ages. No, it's not because I've been busy. It's because I'm lazy. Darnnit, I need to get a job.
I actually have a costuming update though, which I think is cool. I've done a ton of work on my repro 1830s corset. Well, I think it's a ton, mostly because it's all been hand sewing and that makes my back hurt.
So far:
Fabrics (white cotton twill and white linen lining) cut out and assembled (by machine)
Bust gussets, busk slot, and seams reinforced/sewn by hand with decorative gold-ish thread
Cording/quilting design decided on
Hemp cording obtained yesterday
What's left:
Closing up the CB
Cording/quilting
Hand sewing eyelets (I shudder to think about this one)
Ooooh, and another costume-related thing: Before I go out and buy more fabric, I actually have a plan to use stuff that I already have. Woohoo! I'm going to make me some 18th century stays. I have some sort of synthetic damask(?) stuff in sage green and leftover twill and linen. I picked up some white ribbon and cable ties yesterday. So... I want front and back opening stays with stomacher (not too sure how that's going to work yet since I kinda want the stomacher to be connected to the rest of the stays which prolly isn't right...) that will be bound with the aforementioned white ribbon. The twill will be the foundation and the green stuff the fashion fabric and the linen for the lining. I'm gonna flatline it (which I have never tried before) since the "sewing each layer separately and putting wrong sides together" always leaves me with seams that don't match up. I am SO excited.

sounds like lots of progress! Have fun with the cording/quilting, from what I hear that takes forever. You can laugh at me when I'm doing it in sometime in the near future :)
Any idea what the dress is going to be like?

I made a really simple geometric design so it shouldn't be too bad... I hope. After I finish the corset I'll still have to make a shift and do the petticoat thing before I can start on the dress... However, that OBVIOUSLY hasn't stopped me from thinking of what I want it to look like. I'm going for something like this: http://www.gnm.de/Sammlungen/Sammlung_Textil_H7.htm
