Historical Cinderella
Thanks to
theladyrebecca and
bauhausfrau I've been thinking about Disney princesses and cosplay. I think cosplay is a lot of fun, but I always get stumped on things to cosplay because I don't want to be a poser and dress up in something that I don't have a firm grasp of fandom-wise. But I grew up watching Disney princesses and I dressed up as several of them growing up (Cinderella, Snow White, Jasmin) and even made a Snow White a few years ago. I was also thinking of historical Disney princesses. And I was looking at the Frock Flicks posts about historical inspiration for the movies and historically accurate princesses.
Anyways, long story short, I came across this fashion plate from the Barrington House site dated 1893. Doesn't it look oddly like Cinderella, particularly the weird panniers and the puffed sleeves?
