It's coming along so nicely.

Everything I've read says bone 1880's bodices. Apparently once the bodices passed the waist in the 1870's, boning became more or less unavoidable. The only antique 1880's bodices I've handled were well-boned - not every seam, but the side seams and front darts were all boned.
