Shorts!
At the moment, I am making up the Wearing History Smooth Sailing shorts in black twill. However, in my never-ending quest for bigger and better pockets, I've made some adjustments to the pattern. I removed the front pleat and (obviously) added slash pockets. I also lowered the waist so that they're no longer so high waisted. I've found that pockets that are too high up look funny when I put my stuff in them. Also, because of pockets, I've changed the shorts from being side opening to front opening. I'm going to put in a lapped zipper at CF.
So far the shorts have gone together really smoothly. All the seams line up well and construction is straightforward, even with my adjustments. The only problem I've run into is not the fault of the pattern at all. It's my bum. Making these shorts and the ivory knickers has brought to my attention the fact that my bum is uneven, thus making a weird bulge in part of the seat. As a result I've had to take in one side about 1/4 inch more than the other in the back seam. Silly bum! ;p
